It has been five months of glorious sunny beach weather until the last three days. Instead I’ve been waking up to the crashing waves and a dark grey sky - all of which have not been disappointing. If anything, I have been quite taken by the intensity of the stormy weather.

You get the full impact of the coastal storm along Penzance and Eden Road. It’s been quite captivating. The photos really do not capture the scale or the strength of the storm or the ocean, which has felt very very big!

We also experienced some ‘wicked’ high tides! Boston's Seaport District roads were flooded and a little closer to home, the water level was clearly higher than usual along the Long Peach sea wall.

And I was surprised to find the surfers at the north end of Cape Hedge Beach on Friday and Saturday. They typically gather at Long Beach, but maybe the swell was just too dangerous, or maybe ….

Cranes beach was actually closed this past week due to sightings of a DOZEN GREAT WHITE SHARKS in the shallow waters !!!!!

I did see quite a few seals close to the shore on this mornings beach walk, so I'm not quite sure which is more dangerours ... the swell or the sharks! Personally, I think the surfers were tempting fate a little too much!!

And this morning brought a rather different morning with a beautiful sunrise at 6.50am, and a much brighter walk at low tide along Cape Hedge and Long Beach.

So it’s been a paddle and swim free weekend for me. I really do hope the season isn’t over and I get to squeeze in one more swim before Hannah,Moira and I head off to Belgium and France … 8 days and counting !

Enjoy the week and watch out for the sharks!

No joking!
