I launched my paddleboard on Jones River early this morning from Long Wharf, off Atlantic St in West Gloucester. The water was very still and already shallow in places with only a few hours remaining before low tide. As you may have already gathered, this is one of my happy places and today I decided to continue out to Annisquam River and on to Wingaersheek Beach.

I have often seen paddlers and boaters take this river route to the beach. It does mean you avoid pre booking a parking spot and saves you $40! Actually when Polly was visiting recently, we watched people load up their XXXL paddleboards with their beach chairs, umbrellas, coolers and dogs! It was quite amusing.

Off I went through the salt marshes, stopping in a few protected pools for a quick dip ... the water was perfect for the first time this year, not a wince from me !!

And how about living on this boat house! I do need to do some research on how to build and moor a boat house on the Annisquam River.

I eventually pulled up onto the southern most point of Wingaersheek Beach and decided to walk along the waters edge to the more populated beach. I had forgotten that Wingearsheek has a very large sandbar at low tide, and with so few people at this hour I almost felt like I had the beach to myself.

I might just have to convince Jessica that we take this river route next weekend, with the umbrella and beach chairs on board!!!

And if you are an avid bird watcher and curious about sea creatures, there was plenty to see this morning!

Have a great week everyone!
