No surprises ... Rockport is just as beautiful in a snow storm as it is on a summers day!

We were treated to several inches of snow yesterday, which I was completely unprepared for. No snow tires, and no ski equipment in the car! I contemplated driving back into the city for the XC skis but on second thought decided to enjoy a walk in the snow and then hunkered down to finish off my book (The Night Flowers by Sara Herchenroether - a good detective story set in New Mexico. If you've listened to the Bear Brook podcast you'll recognize the story line. If you haven't listened to Bear Brook you should!)

And this morning I visited the Allyn Cox Reservation just outside Essex. I drive by this reservation everytime we visit Crane Estate. I know it has a boat launch but I've just never dropped by. This all changed this morning and it reminded me of why I love this part of the world. It is so so beautiful! The reservation sits along a creek which extends out to the Essex River and looks over the Great Marsh towards the estuary at the southern end of Cranes Beach. The tide was very high today, but you could still spot some of the white sands off in the distance.

Enjoy the photos and fingers crossed more snow is on its way!

I ventured out to The Headlands and turned around quickly when I noticed the darker sky coming our way.

The snow picked up as I reached the beach on my way home.

I predict my cross country skis will be breaking trails at the Allyn Cox Reservation!

I stopped by Cape Hedge Beach on my way home and came across these crazy folk! Really ... its -2 C/30 F and big waves ... I know its very good for your heart but I have a hard enough time getting in in June without a wetsuit!! And those noodles suggest they are intending to float around !!!

And these kids clearing snow for a pond hockey game beside Pebble Beach, really reminds me of my days in Quispamsis.

Enjoy your week, stay warm and be safe!
