The Rockport gift just keeps giving with a magical two evenings of fireworks, bonfires and star gazing.

We (Polly is visiting from London) decided to avoid the crowds in Gloucester on July 3rd and headed to Niles Beach, just around the corner from the Rocky Neck arts community. And what a surprise we had! Not only capturing the gorgeous sunset from a beautiful beach, with clear views south to the Boston skyline, we were able to watch three fireworks displays along the coastline - Manchester by the Sea, Lynn and Gloucester.

And last night we walked down to Granite Pier (2 minutes from my place) to watch the annual July 4th Rockport bonfire at Back Beach. It was another perfect spot to watch the impressive bonfire, all controlled by the local fire department.

Our daytime activities have included (surprise surprise ) beach time and paddling activities. The dock off Jones River near Wingaersheek beach was mobbed with folks taking the river route to the beach. And I had hoped to take Polly out on her own board yesterday but unfortunately it was just too windy. She did,

however, do great on the back of my board. I predict she will be self paddling next weekend!

Great pictures and big crowds for sure! It’s so good that I’ve been to these places and can visualize them.
