Rockport - Shalin Lui Performance Center

There are many reasons to visit Rockport, and the Shalin Lui Performance Center is high on the list. It is a one of a kind music hall with a guaranteed 'Wow!' when you get to your seat.

Lasts night performance was Boston's classical essemble A Far Cry, joined by clarinetist Kinan Azmeh and pianist/composer Dinuk Wijeratne. The program included a selection of pieces centered around 'home' and 'migration'. It was a very special and very moving performance, which was of course enhanced by the captivating views of the rippling water and boats beyond.

My first question on booking tickets at this beautiful theater is where to sit for the best acoustics and the best view. I have now booked seats through out and Iast nights front and center balcony seats have been the best to date. Acoustically the best seats in the house are always what you might consider the worst seats, at the upper rear balcony, but this music hall is small enough to offer a good seat through out.

My first visit to the music center was back in June with Camelia and Florin, to see the blues guitar player Tinsley Ellis. I didnt know his music before the show but I did download his latest album Naked Truth the following day. Up coming performances include The String Queens in late July and Tuba Skinny in September.
