After a rough few days I am finally vertical again and was keen to get in a walk and fresh air early this morning. This lead me to Straitsmouth Cove, close to a 40 minutes walk from my place. It is well worth venturing on this quiet relaxing walk, especially starting out along Front Beach and in to Brewers Brothers for a freshly baked pain au chocolate!

Continuing on through the town and turning left onto Atlantic Avenue, will lead you past quaint New England homes and on to the public path up to the Headlands, overlooking Rockport Harbor.

The skies are clear today, but we have a strong wind coming from the north east, with a large swell on the water and the spray from the waves crashing in to the Straitsmouth Island rocky outcrops are visible from a far.

From the Headlands, continuing along the public path to Old Garden Beach (a favorite!), along the Old Garden Path and on to Mamiom Way will lead to Straitsmouth Cove.

This is a lovely small unassuming cove, over looking the western end of Straitsmouth Island and is just that much further away from town that you will probably not find tourists here.

I love that locals residents park their paddle boards and kayaks on the beach, tucked in under the rose bushes (it has got me thinking). And the swell between the Island and the cove was creating some huge waves, it was quite something to watch .... clearly not a good day for paddling!

I'll be taking it easy for the remainder of the weekend, I need to get my energy back ahead of the upcoming events!
